Decided to have a bit of a break from caffeine, having slept badly on Monday night after 2 coffees, a tea and a diet coke only an hour or so before bedtime. Not sure it's made any difference actually as I slept abdly Tuesday and Wednesday nights too, but I figure I ought to give the experiment a couple more days anyway. However in avoidoing my usual coffee and diet coke and so on I seem to have forgotten today to drink anything else. Probably why I have a slight headache. Silly me.

I remember doing that when I worked for TCP; I decided to stop drinking coffee for two months and then to stop smoking, drinking alcohol and eating chocolate for the last month of that... by the end of those two months my co-workers were pretty much begging me to at least start drinking coffee again :)

These days I tend to drink a single cup of coffee a day so I'll make it a nice one (individual filter; high roast java blended with either mocha or mysore - that comes from the coffee stall in the market). I'll normally have that cup of coffee in the morning at work. In the afternoon I've have a peppermint tea instead - peppermint is a nice stimulant, but one which also helps my stomach. During this I'll have a pint glass of water by my desk which I'll fill up as required... I'll normally have between 2 and 3 pints of water at work, making up the remaining couple of pints of water you need every day when at home :)

I've also found that it can take a little while for lots of caffeine to get out of your system and that completely cutting out coffee will lead to headaches and problems sleeping as well; its sometimes a good idea to slowly reduce rather than completely cut out caffeine sources as it gives your body time to let go of its need for caffeine.

Anyway, hope your headache goes away.

That's good to know; I know all too well what a caffeine withdrawl headache can be like :)

However it does affect different people in different ways; you could be one of those lucky people who aren't massively affected by excess caffeine or caffeine withdrawl.
