Unbeatable just rang. Despite me calling them yesterday and saying "yes please, delivery tomorrow, and let me know if you can't" they have no record of this in their notes and apparently didn't tell TNT either because they were letting me know TNT and just returned the telly to them. I'm afraid I may have shouted a bit, or at least talking loudly and crossly. She offered me a choice between delivery tomorrow or a timed delivery 9-12 on Saturday. Perhaps I should have gone for the latter, but I don't trust it to be on time and we're going to London in the afternoon for Marna's party and I'll want a lie in. They have said they'll refund the delivery charge though.

I have to admit I put the phone down and literally screamed. And now I just want to curl up in a ball and cry again. And I should probably go into the office this afternoon since there's not reason to be here now, but I don't think I can face it. I can get just as much work done from here at least. Though given it is currently lunchtime anyway I am going to go hide under the duvet with a book for a bit instead. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow we will cancel and buy elsewhere. Am making notes so I can write and complain properly. Rjk wants to publish description on web, which I probably won't object to.

*lots of gentle hugs* big companies can be so horrendously disorganised like this. See you saturday at least, I hope :)

The thing that always annoys me...

...is that by the time you get to this point you'd think they ought to go out of their way to do something about it. If I promise someone that I'll do something and then find I can't, or can't easily, I will move heaven and earth (within reason) to either find a way to do it anyhow, or do the closest thing I can, or somehow make up for the inconvenience. At my own cost, since if it was my fault it ought to be my problem too.

But when a company like this screws up delivery multiple times in a row and costs you two days' holiday, they shrug and say "reschedule delivery for next Tuesday?". No mention of them actually trying to put things right. No extraordinary van making a special trip to get the delivery to you today, for example; no compensation for the massive inconvenience, no indication that they're going to do anything except keep giving ambiguous instructions to their delivery company and losing them again and again until you get either bored or homicidally furious.

I usually end up feeling a strong urge to walk into their offices and shout something along the lines of "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK THE WORD 'PROMISE' MEANS, EH? EH?".

Perhaps this is because a company is a collection of people, and not a person. The individuals don't feel they've made the promise, or that they're responsible.

This is "unbeatable" in the sense that you can't win against them, isn't it?

*hugs*

I feel for you. I've been having a similar problem with the letting agent.

Yesterday, our toilet was fixed; it's not been flushing properly. Not the most pleasant of problems.

This was reported to them approximately three MONTHS ago. I have chased them up numerous times, and spent an entire day waiting in for an engineer who was promised to turn up that day.

After we had a fire, our waste water pipe was melted, and our waste water (including from the washing machine, but not fortunately the toilet) was spilling in to the back yard.

This took four weeks to finally fix. For the last couple of weeks I was phoning every day and getting a promise that it would be sorted.

I hate this kind of laxness to fulfilling promises. But unfortunately, it's a national agent working through a local agent, working through local engineers, with as far as I can tell, one person dealing with maintenance issues at the national level. Miscommunication between the levels appears to be rife.

We are not allowed to speak to lower level people.

You should have got a GPS guided rocket TV that could have found it's own way to your house.

Oh, but if you also get one that does the weekly shopping and washes your elbows every morning, I'm sure it would have been worth it :)
