Ha ha, only serious
Date: 2003-04-03 07:08 am (UTC)Re: Ha ha, only serious
Date: 2003-04-03 07:14 am (UTC)Nevertheless, I do think that what people write in their LJ is to some extent one long personal ad, so a link to a LJ is the ultimate minimal personal ad. I do recognise that for most people this extent is really quite limited - possibly even very limited except for anyone who has ever registered for LJ singles (http://www.livejournal.com/singles/). However, I know I'd glean much more from a LJ than from a personal ad - and yet, in many senses, somehow not nearly enough.
One further strike against the use of a LJ username tag as a personal ad is that there are people who evidently aren't particularly comfortable with making extended LJ entries but who give disproportionately good comment - and vice versa. (No names, no pack drill, but nobody on the intersection of our Friends lists in either case.)
