Grannies and Grandads, Cots and Highchairs

Since my last post we have:

• Taken part in the Macmillan World's Largest Coffee Morning and raised £25
• Had Granny Gina and Grandad Evan round to visit - with some lovely walks
• Had Granny Ann and Grandad Ivan round to visit too - delivering Matthew's cot and highchair, and visiting Oxburgh Hall
• Had a quiet weekend with just the two of us!

The high chair is reasonably successful, and Matthew can now sit and play with some food and spoons and a bowl for pretty much the whole time it takes us to eat our dinner, though very little of his own actually gets eaten - he seems to have fun which is the main thing. And he's had several sleeps in his own cot, in his own room, leading up to his first full night in it last night - though he still woke several times it's huge progress and I got loads more sleep. Hopefully this will continue and he'll gradually wake less. We'll see. All in all he's a pretty happy little chap, and doing well.

Glad you got more sleep :) I hate getting up, so after the first wake, he's in with us and that's what works for us, but that's the thing - finding out what works for you. We were up six times last night.

I think we were up 5 times last night - but he's been awake every hour when in bedside crib/my bed, so it's a huge improvement, and he's going back to sleep more quickly, and then actually letting go rather than staying comfort sucking for ages, which means I actually get back to sleep quicker too I think. Obviously we shall continue to see how it goes. I think you're right that everyone has to find what works best for them!

Matthew is sitting up nicely! We should try Ed in his highchair again - seemed a bit big for him last time. He's been his own room for a couple weeks and usually wakes once or twice - mostly goes back to sleep after a feed, if not I sit in with him while he plays.

A couple of wakes would be lovely, but every 2 or 3 hours is still a big improvement for us, so I'm loving it.

We should definitely meet up at some point - perhaps I could come and visit Newmarket in a couple of weeks?
