Book swap

I have these two Discworld novels in hardback. I have all the rest in paperback. This bugs me, I'm a sucker for things matching. If anyone likes hardbacks I'd like to either a) swap these for the paperbacks or b) sell them for what the paperbacks would cost me, say a fiver each.

Any takers?

Oh and if you click through the rest of the gallery has lots of photos of my mum's garden, and a photo of the lads as close as they got to flying. The weather didn't co-operate, so they just got to have a look at the plane and be shown the controls instead, we'll be trying again the first weekend in June, since we're up for my grandparents' diamond wedding anniversary. It was a nice weekend anyway, good company and good food. Last weekend was nice too, with Jan and Owen's birthday party being easily good enough to make up for the 7 hours on very hot coaches getting there and back. This weekend will be a quiet one to catch our breath a little. Shame the sun didn't last though, although our garden is happy for a bit of rain.

I have a well read copy of The Truth, which I would feel quite bad about swapping for a hardback. I would be happy to come to some other arrangement, though. Maybe I could send you a couple of other books which you would be interested in as well? That might make the swap fairer for you.

Well read would be fine, unless it's actually very creased or falling to bits. Several of the ones I have in paperback are very well read, and the early ones are all *very* faded on the spines. I'd probably accept one other paperback in addition if you felt it was fairer though. What did you have in mind?

Yes, I would be happy to swap The Truth and one other. I'm not sure what I had in mind, really. What do you like besides Terry Pratchett? I am currently moving most of my books to my parents' loft, so now would be a good time to send some away somewhere. Is there anything you especially wanted?

I read pretty much anything :-) It's a shame I don't have all my books catalogued so you could see what I've got, must get round to that some day. When I next have some copious free time perhaps.

Here's some examples: I like good kids books (Susan Cooper, Alan Garner, Diana Wynne Jones, Philip Pullman), I like SF and fantasy (Iain M Banks, Alastair Reynolds, Tad Williams, Tolkien, even David Eddings, especially Neil Gaiman), I like modern novelists (Margaret Atwood, Carol Shields, Mark Haddon) and classic stuff (Jane Austen, assorted Brontes), graphic novels are great too (Preacher, Strangers in Paradise, anything by Alan Moore).

Actually if you had any Banks (or M Banks) I'd love it, I only have Dead Air and The Steep Approach to Garbadale cos I've read most of the rest on loan, but I suspect you'd not be wanting to get rid of it :-)

I have a double of Excession (? I think. Not one of the two you have, anyway) (bad charity shopping habit, I spot them in charity shops and buy them for 50p without being too certain about whether or not I have them already) Do you want it?

The idea is to Get Rid Of Books (a heretical one, I know). You appear to have a taker for The Truth, and I didn't really like the Last Continent anyway. Give me 50p if you really care, but I think I'll survive without ;-)

I won't be, and I'm not even sure when it is, so I might not be in Cambridge. If I am you'd be welcome to pop round for coffee. Otherwise I'm sure someone will pass it on, or you could just drop it through the letterbox.

I gave it to Aldabra, as Kathy's school is quite near your place. At some point it might turn up through your letterbox :-)

You probably don't want this, but I have about half of discworld in hardback, and might be interested in swapping them down for the paperbacks. Then, err, you'd have half paperback and half hardback. I guess that doesn't help.

As well as not matching I do actually prefer to read them in paperback anyway: they're less heavy and less awkward to read in bed.

This post was brought to you by the fact that I just moved all the Pratchett out of my main fiction shelves because I'd run out of room. It's now living over with the non-fiction and Mike's books. There is precedent: I already have the chalet school and other school fiction separate from the main fiction too.

Err, the middle half. Not very consistantly. (My books are still muddled after moving house, so I cannot tell you for certain) Definitely pyramids, witches abroad, moving pictures, interesting times, hogfather, masquerade, fet of clay and ones 'about then'

Hmmm, I think I have paperback witches and pyramids but I can't be certain.

I'm not sure I should be trying to get more hardbacks onto my overflowing bookshelves though.
