Night skies

I just spent 10 minutes lying on the driveway just looking at the stars. For some reason it just seemed the right thing to do. Full of a sense of calm. It's beautiful up there.

A long evening talking. And I laughed when he said it had been nice, because nice things aren't usually as painful as some of it had been, but yes, it was a nice evening.

And for once I have the perfect icon.

The ISS is quite bright these evenings. If you're out looking at the sky tonight, it appears in the west at 21:00, travels across the sky and sets in the east at 21:04.

Oh, that's what I would've seen last night at around 8:45. Wondered about that. (Behaviour said "satellite" but it was really bright—easily as bright as a planet, except maybe a full Venus.)

One of the small things I'm really hoping for when we move is that the light pollution will be a lot lower in a village, though we may still be too close to Lahndun to get any benefit.

Hope not, because I really enjoy a bit of star-gazing. It's quite meditative, really gives you a sense of perspective, plus you can try to make up your own rude constellations.
