Time goes really slowly when you're lying in bed waiting for someone to come home and not knowing when to expect them. In the end it was ony 12:30 but it felt much later, especially given I'm tired anwyay. We talked for half an hour or so, and then once I got off to sleep I think I slept pretty well, but I'm still shattered this morning. Don't feel I can take the day off if the lack of sleep was my own/my partner's fault rather than just insomnia though, so here I am at work. Not all that impressed at speaking only half a dozen words to rjk on irc all day and then spending the entire evening on my own when I'm already not terrobly happy, but he did need to spend some time with Vicky and I'm glad they had a good evening. Wonder if I'll ever get to see the Bond film at this rate thoughj. I did get to read book 2 and half of book 3 of the Harry Potters though, which at least kept me occupied.

Apologies for any typos here, but I upgraded to Mozilla 1.2 at work (Woindows NT) yesterday, and ever since then it's been *painfully* slow to type anythign at Livejournal: typeahead is currently about 2/3rds of a sentence. *sigh* Perhaps I shoudl just downgrade it again. Hopefully get more work done today than yesterday anyway, though I'm not much more awake.

I get it in Phoenix too from time to time (not happening right now - build from 20021202 on WinNT4), so I'd point the finger at Gecko.

I still haven't seen Bond either.

[livejournal.com profile] ejde and I have an agreement that when I'm seeing S at their piece, I'll leave their house at 11pm, sending an SMS when I do so. This seems to solve the "When will [livejournal.com profile] simonb be home ?" problem for us.

As for the typing speed with LJ... I have to admit that its not something I've encountered with either the 1.1 or 1.2b versions of Mozilla I've been running on Solaris.

The Tuesday night with S is only as regimented as it is thanks to Tuesday night being the only night we're both free during the week, still ERID and all that.

I've certainly noticed that time can feel like its either slipping through your fingers like water or that it feels like each second is an uphill struggle through waist high congealed mashed potato. It all depends on how you feel and what you're doing at the time.

I have to admit that in similar situations I've found that the kittens have been very helpful - if nothing else they seem to know when you need cheering up and come and snuggle (Pudds did this with Fi this evening).

There is a nice bit in "Alice in Wonderland" about time:

`If you knew Time as well as I do,' said the Hatter, `you wouldn't talk about wasting IT. It's HIM.'

`I don't know what you mean,' said Alice.

`Of course you don't!' the Hatter said, tossing his head contemptuously. `I dare say you never even spoke to Time!'

`Perhaps not,' Alice cautiously replied: `but I know I have to beat time when I learn music.'

`Ah! that accounts for it,' said the Hatter. `He won't stand beating. Now, if you only kept on good terms with him, he'd do almost anything you liked with the clock. For instance, suppose it were nine o'clock in the morning, just time to begin lessons: you'd only have to whisper a hint to Time, and round goes the clock in a twinkling! Half-past one, time for dinner!'
