When Marna and Juliet both suggested I come and join them in the pub for lunch today I wasn't expecting there to be quite such a crowd of us [1]. Jethro, Terri, Jan and (I think) Martin did an absolutely wonderful job of keeping us all in food and drink as well as coping with the usual Sunday regulars, and it was a really pleasant way to spend the afternoon, as well as a nice lunch. By the time Jan joined us at the end of her shift there were rather fewer of us left than there had been previously, but it was nice to sit and talk. Lovely to see everybody again in the light of day, and also to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] fivemack and [livejournal.com profile] hampsterboy who I hadn't seen in ages.

It was disturbing to suddenly realise at 3:30 that it was only about 12 hours since I'd gone to sleep, which might have explained why I was feeling somewhat mildly out-of-it, in a not unpleasant sort of way. The last 3 of us finally gave up around 5:30, and Duncan was lucky enough to have a bus turn up almost immediately. Arranged to have lunch with Jan on Wednesday (mmm noodles) and Duncan's going to drop me a line if he fancies meeting up for lunch some other day. Got home and watched the Time Team special on the colossus ship which sank of the Scilly Isles. It was moderately interesting, but not as good as some of them have been. Chinese now (Tesco Finest) and then we'll settle down to watch Starship Troopers before bed. Lovely weekend.

[1] I think the full list is more or less as follows, though I may have missed some:

Oh yeah, and [livejournal.com profile] kaet was in for lunch with his parents too, and Patrick (who I gather has one but I don't know what it is [livejournal.com profile] arnhem) at the bar when I arrived.

Could you tell me who [livejournal.com profile] echoing_void is? He/she has befriended a lot of people from my friends list, and I noticed you'd befriended them back They've now added me but I have no idea who it is. It appears to be an "empty" LJ - one used soley in order to read other people's friends-only entries, which I am very uncomfortable with.

The name makes me think it's possibly just set up as a kind of passive troll; I vaguely remember hearing of a similarly-named journal which did something similar to a different group of people.

Since the removal of invite-codes, there has been a recent trend of trolling whereby someone adds loads of people to their Friends list - though usually they make at least one entry (after all, they need somewhere for people to comment "Take me of your friends list!!", which seems to be what they find amusing). (I have [livejournal.com profile] spacexghost on my list, who seems to be of this sort.)

Oh wait, half way through writing this, he just has added an entry (http://www.livejournal.com/users/echoing_void/412.html)! Oh well, I wait in suspense - I'm not someone on his friends list, but I'm still curious!

Ah yes.. I'm often guilty of assuming a gender when I write about an unknown person I'm afraid (though I don't always assume male.. I'm not sure what it does depend on really). He or she, then:)

I was apparently on [livejournal.com profile] kko_'s friends list for a couple of weeks in February. No idea who it is, but they had over 1,000 friends at one point. I ignored it and it went away.

For some reason I haven't attracted [livejournal.com profile] echoing_void's attention, though.

They might have entries that are on a small subset of friends-only as well, because I can't see them either. But I'm not adding it back until I know who it is.

Annoyingly, you can tell whether that's the case or not, because friends-only entries still show up publicly on the calendar view as having been made. There hadn't been any.

There's been discussion on this here - but I think that's friends-only. Summary: most people's best guess was one of the Bermondsey Contingent, but it ain't any of us. [livejournal.com profile] marnameow suggested some kind of bot or automatic thingy, perhaps playing with trust-flows & similar. It seems to have started with a smallish group (60) & jumped up to 120 roughly via friends-lists. That appears to be the current favourite guess. Most bizarre. I'm continuing to ignore 'em until further information appears (tend to only add people I know, in general).

Yes, Diva mentioned that both Marna and Ali were both mooted as possibles before they both denied it.

I've no intention of reciprocating though - even if I knew who this person was, I don't return the friending of people who maintain an "empty" LJ. It seems like a very one-sided exchange.

If it was me and you asked me, I'd deny it - I'm sure Ali at least is sufficiently devious.

I haven't even looked to see if I should reciprocate - I can't read the journals of all the people who have friended me and who are interesting people, let alone play Silly Buggers with some other joker...

I think my housemate Chris was there (certainly Marna asked me to invite him).
