It's hard to explain exactly what I do and don't eat, especially since all the lists of stuff are copyright the organisation of course and by joining I did agree not to pass them on, though I do bend that rule a little. But basically there are things which I can eat as much as I like of, because they fill you up a lot for the amount of calories in them. There are things which are basically concentrated calories which don't fill you up, and you can only eat a pretty restricted amount of them and still lose weight. And there are some things inbetween which you can eat a measured but fairly generous amount of each day.
It works pretty well for me, and it has a fair bit of flexibility built in, but I do think that actually going to the class, much as I probably would have mocked a couple of years back, helps an awful lot. And it's a nice little social thing too. There's a
