Hair dyed, bags packed (clothes, pyjamas, makeup, poi, phone charger, pen and notepad, unmentionables, chocolate and book - toothbrush and pills to pack in the morning), bins empty, dinner eaten, taxi booked for 8:45, alarm set for 7:30. I think we just need to do some washing up then we can relax and go out for a bit.

Will unlock this entry when I get back, not keen to advertise I'm off for a week to the entire world. Contact details inc mobile number in memories, but it may be turned off a lot of the time. Do feel free to leave messages.

A shower cap to keep the hair dye from running and a phone to go with the charger.

I didn't know trains had the capacity for surprise.

I don't think I know where you're going (and given that you haven't mentioned it, I won't ask) but I'd guess Whitby. If that's the case, and given that [livejournal.com profile] marnameow's mentioned travelling by train, do you have an awful train connection in Middlesbrough somewhere along the line? If so, would you welcome interception during the connection?

Of course, a simple "no" here could mean very many different things. :-)

No promises, but I'll see what I can do; I have good excuse to be in town tomorrow lunchtime already, as it happens. If you've never experienced 25 minutes on the slightly dirtier, more boring side of Middlesbrough train station before, even as a party of eight, you'll need all the moral support you can get.

Actually, the train ride into Middlesbrough is quite nice, in an industrial sort of way, and the train ride from Middlesbrough over the North York Moors to Whitby is very nice (without needing an "in a... sort of way" qualifier) even if it's an almost impractically show journey, probably in some awful old rolling stock.

London to Darlington: 210 miles in two and a third hours. Darlington to Whitby: 55 miles tops in not much less.

The golf balls near Whitby don't fly at all...
