Richard slightly alarmed me by being quite a bit later back than he usually is after work drink and nibbles. Did give me a chance to watch some daft telly in the meantime (the news,a star trek next gen episode, and a program about people in the lake district) and get a head start with a couple of large gins. Mike and Christi arrived very promptly at 8 and we had pizza and then watched The Italian Job and fell about laughing lots. Amazingly none of us had seen it before. I can't believe they ended it where they did. Excellent film anyway. And then we sat around and drank some more and talked lots about all sorts of rubbish and finally gave up for bedtime at around 1am, since both Christi and Richard needed to get up this morning. Meeting Mike again later today to watch Pirates again since he hasn't seen it yet.

TNG was confusing as hell for those of us not concentrating when Picard (born in Mirfield) started being Borg. Weird. Isn't Cumbria pretty though. awww.

It didn't confuse me, and I haven't even seen any of the stuff with Picard being off with the borg, so ner :-P I've really seen not very much of any ST to be honest. Even so I think I have seen one episode of DS9 at least 2 times possibly three. And the one episode of Enterprise I've seen didn't exactly make me want to see more.

Was that the original Italian Job or the new plastic copy? I'm guessing the original given your comment about the ending.

Yes, I bought the original on DVD this week since there was no way I was going to go see the new one without having seen this first. I shall probably still go see it, but I don't expect it to bein quite the same league.

It isn't. I got to watch it on a flight to the US and all it appears to have in common with the original is three minis (albeit the new model) and a robbery. I could say more but that would spoil it.

I showed the original to Tori (had it shipped from the UK, although it's been released in US format today) and she now understands why "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" is so funny :-)
