I must be an idiot. 30 degrees out there and blazing sunshine and I chose today for a 40 mile round trip to Royston by bike. Took plenty of water and stopped to get more and something to eat, and it doesn't seem to have done me any harm other than a little light sunburn, so I think I've got off lightly there. But wow it feels good. The 5 or 6 miles between Royston and Duxford along the A505 where I maintained a nice brisk 20 mph non-stop were brilliant, and I even managed to hit 30 mph on a downhill stretch. 13.6 mph average overall, which I'm pretty pleased with. Rest day tomorrow and then hopefully it'll be a little cooler on Sunday for the 54 miles London to Cambridge.
