Ooops. It's Dougsoc types who tend to drink in the Radcliffe iirc. Memory obviously slipping in my old age. Can't believe it's 5 years since I left.

Nope, Dougsoc (at least the last few years) have been favouring the Harcourt as well (although I'm talking in the last 5 years, so I suppose it may have changed - I may consult Pete). Although on occasion there was "meet at Radcliffe for food, move to Harcourt after food". The couple of oxnet meets I went to were in the Radcliffe, though.

I love the Harcourt. Not as good for food as the Radcliffe, mind, but top garlic bread. And general loveliness.

I think you're right that we only actually met at SB, you know - it's just that online knowing goes back way longer (oxnet/oxbridge.tat/JL).

oxgoths pub meets where in the Harcourt, mainly cos it was round the corner from aliens flat and he was too lazy to go further into town. Then they moved to the Gloc, then they moved again and again and again and are now in Cowley IIRC, not that I've been for nearly a year.

Yup, we met upstairs at Blackwell's Paperback Shop (which is now the Music shop) - a signing in Jan 1997, although you'd seen me in Dec 1996 in Life of Brian, which IIRC is how conversation got started.

Hmm, I must dig out the photos I have somewhere from various ones people took at that con and see who I can spot in them. I think there's one of me and the Damerell and possibly Claire Speed too on the bouncy castle.

Since '95 was the point that we were making pretty much every AFPmeet that we could, I would have thought we actually met at the same meet as you met the damerell (http://www.livejournal.com/users/damerell/), rather than the following year.

Was that the Wheatsheaf in Oxford.

Nope, there was one at the Wheatsheaf (which I think Kat organised?) but that was in the summer and I wasn't there. This one was just before the end of term, (badly) organised by me and in the Turf. David, me, Chris Joseph, and a couple of others I forget, was a very small meet. Unfortunately Google Groups seems to have no evidence of me before the beginning of 96, so I can't confirm.

Now I think about it though I probably met you at a Cambridge AFPmeet around Feb 96 though, which was the first time I was in Cambridge and the second meet I was at. I think that this photo might date from that one even, though I'm not sure. I seem to have photos from several AFPmeets in the Druids actually.

My best guess is that we met at one of the ucam.chat garden parties at Relativity, probably in 1998 or so. Memory is a bit unreliable over five years though, so you might be right :-)
