Finger broken, got to go back to hand clinic on Tuesday morning and keep it strapped up til then. Given driving testis on Wednesday morning I've had to cancel it, because I can't drive. No chance of getting money back. No possibility of another test before August, when my theory runs out. Feel like whole attempt to learn to drive has been a complete and utter waste of money, and not even just my money at that since much of it was a gift in BSM vouchers.

Didn't get to reschedule lunch with August because I was stuck in addies and he was busy anyway. I think I probably hurt too much to do B-movie tonight.

What a mess.

Oh - poor poor you. It sounds like everything's being terrible and bad and horrible, and with the worstest possible timing. *hugs* if they help.

:-( ((((((((((([livejournal.com profile] lnr)))))))))))

Small consolation, if it's any help - broken fingers take less time to heal than other bones, IME (and I've broken all of mine, on various occasions, over the years).

*hug* that's really rough luck, and the timing's terrible. Is re-sitting the theory more than an inconvenience?

It's another £30(?), on top of the £50 lost for the cancelled test. And not only have they changed the question set in the last two years, but introduced the "hazard perception" test which you can fail by being too good.

Basically, it sucks dead bunnies through a straw.

How can you fail by being too good?

And a big Get Well (or should that be 'fixed'?) Soon for the injured party. A real double-whammy, having a bike breakdown and being prevented from getting a car instead.

I'm given to understand that there's basically a window of time in which you're supposed to notice and react to the hazard. If you spot it and react outside this window, it counts against you, even if it's before the start of the window. A bit like how athletes can have false starts for leaving the blocks after the gun but before they're supposed to have had time to react. So basically if you're too alert, too predictive, or have a very good reaction time, you can fail.

Oh, poor love! *HUGS* *gentle kiss on the bits that don't hurt*

Learning to drive hasn't been a total waste of money (though I think it's appalling that they can't give you a refund on the test even when you've broken your fingers!!) -- you've still had the learning, & that's less learning that you'll have to do when you're able to drive again. But I do sympathise.

Oh, what dreadful timing! Poor you.

I'm glad you got your finger looked at, even if it does mean keeping it strapped up and not being able to drive.

I send a hug. A gentle one, I can't do any other kind at the moment and I don't think you'd like a firm one just now.

Poor you. Rotten luck.

Might be possible to go on a list for driving-test cancellations?

Poor lnr :-( That's *such* bad timing, and I'm really sorry about your finger, on top of the cuts and bruises. But learning hasn't been a waste: you've got up to passing standard, and it wouldn't take that much to regain that (once you get another test date, damn them).

Don't worry about waste of vouchers from this neck of the woods. I might have bought you a ghastly picture with the same money last Christmas and you'd have had to run and get it out of the shed whenever I came to stay. As it is, your driving has advanced this year, and you will get there in the end.

Anyway, buying vouchers was a better option than the risks I took with life and sanity sitting in with [personal profile] ewx while he was learning ...
