Online shopping d00m
Jul. 9th, 2002 08:38 pmSo you'd think being down to a sensible size would make online shopping easier really, but it appears that I can't find anything that I want at a sensible price at the moment. And buying things which are expensive is right out, if they're not likely to fit for more than a couple of months. I'm right out of trousers which actually fit me any more (I've a couple of pairs I can still wear but they're beginning to look ludicrous) but everything in the shops seems to be cropped or ruffled to dirty-look or glitter or pink or all of the above. ick ick ick.

Date: 2002-07-09 01:52 pm (UTC)Things do seem pretty dire at the moment. There seems to be lots of cool stuff in the expensive shops, particularly the ones on Trinity Street and the convex shops on Rose Crescent, but they're way too expensive. There doesn't seem to be much between that and the sad glut of gypsy-look (repurposed curtain) tops, pink "Daria's sister" Tammyesque tweeny stuff, and pre-grass-stained big-flare jeans. Monsoon and Karen Millen look cool (but, again, I suspect expensive). I wonder if Robert Sayle are selling stuff off before they move to Burleigh Street? You might be able to pick up a bargain there, and some of their stuff is okay.

Date: 2002-07-09 02:59 pm (UTC)Monsoon is always lovely, but *far* beyond my means at the moment even if they have a sale, which is a shame. Perhaps I shall treat myself to something from there when I reach the size I want to stop at. It's that or a corset. This one in particular from fairygothmother has been calling to me for some time. Their stuff takes forever to arrive though, 3-8 weeks I think they said for a skirt I've had on order for about 6 weeks now.
I just want a nice pair of plain black combats or something, a pair of fairly snug fitting jeans with straight legs and plain black denim that I can actually sit down in. I've managed to find a few skirts and so on I can get on with but trousers seem to be impossible at the moment. I shall keep my eye on Sayles though, thankyou.

I've only ever window-shopped, so I've never paid much attention to the prices! The fairygodmother corset is certainly cool. It might be worth trying out Cathouse if you're in Liversedge (I can't look up the details at work), they do corsets, I'm sure, though I doubt they're as exciting as the fairy-godmother ones.

I can't say I really fancy corset shopping while I'm at my parents' :-) But I've found their webpage and I've defnitely added it to me drool list :-)

Date: 2002-07-21 09:18 am (UTC)Unfortunately the dress is just beginning to be too big, like much of the rest of my wardrobe, but never mind it's worth it :-)
