House update

Oh FFS. I asked Nationwide/RSA a fortnight ago to arrange a bathroom pod for January. Cue radio silence. I rang them today: they'd appointed someone to provide one. Only it turned out that for the *third* time this claim they *thought* they'd appointed someone but it hadn't gone through on the computer. It has now apparently actually be arranged, and I should hear from the bathroom pod people (um) soon. I emailed them my notes of this conversation, for a record, and discovered the email address I have for them no longer works. Bloody hell but I'm tired of this.

They have however, as promised, just sent me an email confirmation as I was writing this, from the address that just bounced. What?

(With apologies to those who have just read this on Facebook too. Why the hell does *nothing* happen unless I ring tham up! I hate ringing people up.)

Also, like, I don't get how so many industries are still so phone dependent. It's like if they can't hear you you don't exist. I find this very odd being in an industry that is very emaily, and working on a project that is 90% written communication because we're on the other side of the entire world. My life would be very very lazy if I only acted on phone calls. Also I'd be out of a job. I just don't get it, but I may be being wilfully autistic about this.

I don't get it either. Other than this blip today my emails to them to apparently get through, and are recorded on my case, and if I ring up I can ask them to read them. But they're too *busy* to read an email unless you actually ring up and ask them to, even though every email they send to you suggests you can email them. It's *rubbish*.

I'd take this up with the higher levels. They should have people who read case updates but don't answer phones.

I'd claim that this discriminates against some disabilities - deafness and autism - so is illegal.

It is, but enforcing it is hard, I know cos I'm deaf and I am one of the few people I know who has done it.

The issue is you probably have to get to court filing before a big org starts to GAF cos suddenly they're on court timescales.

Our original case handler at RSA was kinda rubbish but we got passed to a force of nature who has been working wonders for us (though we still had to formally complain because one of their subcontractors (a) dropped the ball and did the wrong thing then (b) dragged their heels for a month rather than admit it and (c) insisted they would only take a complaint from us not RSA ever though they were appointed by RSA.

At least we have a data for tiling now though, thank goodness!

We've theoretically got Bathroom Pod and redecorators both coming on January 6th, just waiting to hear back from Marco the local electrician subcontracted to fit an outdoor socket for the bathroom pod to get a date for that!
