Yesterday when he got home from work Mike encouraged me to come out in the back garden and see a baby grass snake:

And then today we wandered into the garden and found this lizard basking on the shed! His friends ran away but there were three at least:

This was a little later and may have been a different one:

If we had a pond I'd have gone to double check for newts!

Common lizards (of which this is probably an example), sand lizards and slow worms apparently - though I had to look it up. Perhaps they were preparing to hibernate?

Could you possibly put the photos under an lj-cut if you get a minute, please? They have made my friends page bigger than my screen.

Drat - iPad has just run out of battery and iPod version doesn't seem to have an edit button. O'll fix when i can though. Apologies for the inconvenience - obviously though the app shrinks them to display it isn't posting them sensibly!

Just to let you know as well as finally fixing this I've gone and poked in the LJ app settings and found how to make it use smaller images in future - 600 pixels wide rather than the 900 it had recently defaulted to! So it shouldn't happen again. (Though the post recent post was done from the PC rather than the app).

Wow! I'd heard that there were lizards in Cambridge (apparently there have been sightings in one of the LNRs), I didn't expect to see photos of one in a friend's garden.
