Domestic bliss?

Mike and I now have a shiny new washing machine. It's doing its first wash, very quietly, as I speak.

There's only one tiny problem. As before we had to remove a cupboard door to get the washing machine in. Only this time there isn't room to put it back! Oops.

Wonder how much a new kitchen costs?

What you could do is make the cupboard smaller - might need a chippy to do it for you, but I had to do something like this in my house in Worcester. It would mean moving the chipboard on the side in a bit, and shaving off the shelves, perhaps.

Double bah: trying to comment via LJ app doesn't seem to be working.

It's an odd corner - it really is just the door that's the problem. So there's probably a solution which wouldn't even Los us any cupboard space but it would be fiddly and hard to match a new door and, well, it's a good excuse to get round to something we want to do at some point anyway.

No doubt the next sale will be along soon: they're almost like buses these days. I doubt we have enough energy for kitchen shopping this weekend.

Nice! (The washing machine part, that is...) Aren't they quiet, these days?! What did you get?

It's an LG washer dryer. Direct drive makes for the quiet, and it's A+ efficient. Suspect our leccy bills will go up though - the old one didn't seem to be heating the water any more! Not cheap but hopefully more reliable.

(The biggest problem with the Dyson machine is that we can't fit it in the corner and get the abutting door back on.

Yeah, the trouble with this one is how much the front of the unit sticks out. Although actually it was only *just* narrow enough to fit in the available space anyway.
