Update: It is now too late to sign this petition, but many thanks to those who did, and don't forget you can still sign http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/roads4bikes/

Just received this from CCC. If anyone can print out, sign, and return to address by today's post that would be brilliant.

Cambridge MP David Howarth has an opportunity at very short
notice to present a petition in the House of Commons opposing the
changes detrimental to cycling in the new Highway Code that we
contacted you about last week.

Anyone can sign the petition: it is not specific to Cambridge
constituency voters.

Unfortunately though it has to be physically signed with an
original signature on the correct form. Therefore, please can
we ask you to print the form which you can find at

  http://www.camcycle.org.uk/campaigning/issues/highwaycode/petition.html

fill it in and send it by post *to ARRIVE by this THURSDAY morning*
at the absolute latest (Wednesday if possible) to

  David Howarth MP
  David House, Room 4/11
  Norman Shaw North
  House of Commons
  London SW1A 0AA

(n.b. not just to the usual House of Commons address, please, as that
mail would then end up back in Cambridge)

Please ask friends and colleagues who you can contact to fill in the
form as well. Please feel free to circulate this as widely as you can.

As before further details about the issue can be found at
  http://www.camcycle.org.uk/campaigning/issues/highwaycode

It might be worthwhile to have an electronic petition on the No 10 Web site as well, for people who physically can't get a response back by post before Thursday. I'm thinking of someone specific who's out of the country on business, for example.

I've copied this to my LJ, and am about to print out and sign my own copy.

I got there eventually.

The PDF version of the paper petition won't print - it has several bugs, one of which is to be on landscape Letter paper, apparently.

Have printed it out & will get Owen to sign it -- if we post it tonight it should get there by Thursday morning.

Are you on JunkList? If so, probably worth plugging this there too. (If not, I'll pass it on.)

BTW the first of your links is pointing to the same place as the second (rather than to the address that the link text gives).

Printed fine for me.... but if you still can't get it to print, try the one here:

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~janetmck/parliamentarypetition.pdf

(Newly PDF'd from their Word doc - can redo if it still has bugs, let me know!)

Update: petition posted with three signatures (me, Owen, and [livejournal.com profile] brrm).

Will also write to Evan Harris re the EDM mentioned on JL (surprised he hasn't signed already actually!).

Many thanks for that. In the end, I worked around the bugs in the PDF and my own stupidity and got it to print - posted, although only with my signature sadly (I'm home alone today).

I printed it out, and stuck it in the post with a total of nine signatures, for what it's worth. I find this sort of pushing uphill against other peoples' stupidity terribly draining for some reason ;-(

Thank you very much for posting this to LJ. I'd not have known about it, else.
