We're nearly up to the Oxford Road so it's not actually all that loud, just incessant, at least as long as we keep all the doors and windows shut. We were really annoyed about the access to the allotment; Festival Security were keeping us off our rented council property. Gah. Other people are annoyed by the pool closure but we prefer the other pool anyway.
I don't know from other festivals, so I couldn't say. WOMAD is much quieter, though, and doesn't block nearly as much access to local amenities and rights of way as Reading Festival does. It's also always first, possibly because of the mud issues. Takes the land ages to recover from Reading Festival.
I forgot to check out the rape count this year. First year we lived here, local papers proudly reported it as "only 13".
(Now is a good time to buy wellies in the local charity shops, btw. Really. And festival-goers find the trike hughly amusing, apparently.)
