Well, book is sent back to Amazon fr: "raison de retour: manque de quelques pages entre 360 et 373". They say they'll send me a new one and refund the postage. Just as well since it was nearly a fiver.

Oyster have mailed me back (in reponse to me asking if I can have longer to activate my card please) saying that once an order is placed it can't be changed. They didn't tell me when I placed it that I'd only have 5 days to activate it!

In better news Rachel has given me her old Good Beer and Good Pub guides, and lent me Bride and Prejudice. Plus Magic Numbers are playing tonight. Even if it does look like timings aren't going to work sensibly for meeting Mike for food first. And my recent Amazon uk cds order has shipped.

I decided I was fed up of people going "Goth!" at me for no good reason, so am today looking more goth than normal. Including pink boots. Yes pink is goth.

I'm un-becolden enough to be back at work but find myself really not wanting to be here, and utterly shattered. Wondering about taking some holiday but don't feel like ending up with another year where I've frittered it all away in a day here and a day there and not done anything interesting with my time.

Digestive system is still making rude noises at me but being kept at bay by ranitidine and calcium carbonate. Probably if I'd had them with me at the weekend I wouldn't have been ill last Friday. Doc reckons so long as those keep working then we don't need to worry. Didn't seem too unhappy with my blood pressure, especially if I'm not on the pill anymore. Agreed that I seemed in a state for lower dose of ADs. So now I'm back on the standard 20mg dose for the foreseeable. Go me. I'm sad right now, sometimes miserable, but not really depressed. I dunno if I can explain the difference. Though the feelings of hopelessness aren't completely at bay, so I'm keeping an eye on them.

You could pop the card in the mail to me or another Londoner and get one of us to activate it for you and send it back? I'd be happy to do it.

FWIW I know exactly what you mean; normal-sad and depressed aren't even slightly the same in my memory.

Re Oyster, can you cancel the order under the Distance Selling Regulations?

Makes "once an order is placed it can't be changed" less of a problem, though, since you can always cancel and resubmit a different order. Doesn't help with your specific problem, I guess, unless you can predict a London visit enough in advance to order a new one.
