Yesterday was an excellent day of sociableness. Including ringing Mike up a little unsoberly and chatting for a 15 mins or so before he headed back to tents with people. Nice to chat to him anyway. Today has been much quieter but actually quite social. Gareth popped by to pick up the kids coats before taking them out for the afternoon. And Lizzie popped by to pick up the brownie box, much to rjk's surprise as I'd not mentioned she was coming, and stayed for a cuppa. Then I got a surprise knock too (his revenge) since I didn't know Helen was coming round to say hi. Lizzie tried the jumper on. Or at least tried to. One of its bugs however is that the headhole was only about 3 inches across. Oops. She dashed off to be home for 5:30 before Richard and I turned into scary people or something.

We made jacket potatoes and filled them with various leftovers from the picnic (dip of various sorts mostly) and from the cupboard (tuna, bean salad, mayo). Sometimes the simplest dinners are nice. And between us we polished off the pringles and the choc cookies too so there's nothing much left to go off unexpectedly. And now Helen and rjk have gone to the cinema. I've lengthened the straps on the jumper by a few inches and now it'll go over my head, though not over the rest of me. We'll have to meet up again so you can give it another try before I do the crochet trim again! I have lots of needles and a huge pile of *bright cerise* mohair wool which had arrived at some point and been left in the bin cupboard: usually the postie is better about leaving a card. Nice surprise though. God knows what I'll make with it. Skirt of some sort is tempting. Any suggestions from the knitters?

Probably sleep soon. Mike back tomorrow lunchtime and supposedly working tomorrow afternoon. This could be amusing!

Skirts are a bit odd, because knitted fabrics can puill out of shape quite easily. If I were knitting a skirt I'd make it from cotton or other non-stretchy fibre.

How much mohair? (How thick, and how many yards?) Are you coming to my knitting thing next weekend, because you could bring some with you and get *loads* of suggestions?

If you can come, it's be wonderful to see you, because I've not seen you in *ages*! Plus there might be badges. ;)

I've [livejournal.com profile] brit_knits-ed mohair-ish comments.
