Oh, just that some newer phones come with a CD and some form of data connectivity (USB cable, Bluetooth, IR: my crock-of-crap 3G phone came with all three). You can install client software on the PC and then manage the address book, calendar, text messages etc., and often sync them with outlook too. Because they talk under the bonnet, if the problem's because the text is screwing with the phone's UI, you might work around it. If the problem's that something's trashed your SIM card, you're still stuffed of course.
