Just about finished packing. Have now added my glasto packing list to memories so next time I can find it more quickly. The one thing I seemed to forget this time was a torch. Current plan is to shower and change shortly, spend the afternoon quietly geeking, and head over to meet Mike at the station once he's finished work. Definitely looking forward to this, even if I am a little apprehensive: not done Reading before, and not met most of Mike's gang who'll be there.

In other news:

Nice lunch today with [livejournal.com profile] hairyears, [livejournal.com profile] simonb and [livejournal.com profile] ejde in The Bun Shop. I'd really like their portions of chips to be about half the size, but thankfully Nile helped eat a few of them. Work was productive again, as it has been most of the week, though I was a little tired.

Yesterday had lunch with Mike and sorted out train tickets, then had dinner with Richard at Charlie Chan's, which was nice, though downstairs definitely has a lot less class than upstairs. Came joint second-to-last with two other teams in the quiz. Should have taken Col's first guess at the number of pubs called The Crown in the UK at the end of 2002: he said 1000 and the actual number was 1002. Oh well, better luck next week. And then over to Mike's to help him dye his hair. It's very pretty :-)

Tuesday I worked later than usual because of the late start, which left a short afternoon. Had a very pleasant evening in with rjk and the crime telly anyway. And I think that's more or less where I last posted.

I'm sure you've seen the BBC reports, but just in case: torrential rain forecasted, make sure you have lots in the way of spare warm clothing, spare plastic bags, wet weather kit, etc etc.

Hope the forecast winds up being wrong!

[livejournal.com profile] hairyears was in Cambridge? Did I miss the announcement or was it not supposed to be public whatsits? :-(

Feelin' guilty now in case I was supposed to have known.

Mind you half the time I dunno what day it is let alone what city other people are in...

And I have another one as well! (which both [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth & [livejournal.com profile] dogrando preferred, now there's a surprise :-) ).

Don't go in the portaloos until three hours after the main stage closes on the last night, minimum. Except you've probably already set off.

Posted it on the Journal on Monday (http://www.livejournal.com/users/hairyears/8676.html), got a couple of responses. Actually, I'd been expecting a deafening silence: I should think better of people.

Sorry you missed that! Even with people as easygoing and approachable as [livejournal.com profile] simonb, [livejournal.com profile] ejde and our hostess [livejournal.com profile] lnr, it's a little daunting turning up without a common acquaintance to smooth the initial awkwardness of being a Stranger Off The Web.

Some other time... not least because I owe LNR a pint of the excellent Timmy Taylor IPA they serve in The Bun Shop.

Well, I'm around Leicester all weekend, much as Nodnol sounds very tempting.

Well, I'm around Leicester from Saturday afternoon onward, tempting as the events in Nodnol sound.

Bugger. Why the hell didn't I see that? :-( Grahhh. Sorry. Am crap.

This weekend I am working at Oxfam on Saturday morning, taking my car in for service on Saturday afternoon, going to visit parents on Saturday evening and staying for Sunday, coming back to Cambridge on Sunday night, hoping to Get Stuff Done on Monday.

In between, I will hopefully be Sleeping. A lot. NEED SLEEP. ... in the meantime, MORE COFFEE! I wonder why I don't sleep well.

Er, not much space in that, is there?

Mind you, the idea of a weekday Not Working, or pottering around was very strange. I should do this more often.

I'm afraid it's looking a bit hectic, yeah... Weekends generally end up that way. Which is why I'm really, really cross with myself for missing a lunch-hour opportunity. :-(

Oh god I'm so tired. Do you think anybody will notice if I fall asleep at my desk?

This one came from here - there's other varieties of them (e.g. goth) on that site as well. Warning: takes bloody ages to download, do not attempt on dialup without good book to hand.
