Why do you always find out you have a puncture at 8:30am when you have to be somewhere by 9? And why is it that when you figure you can fix the puncture yourself when you get home you realise that you can find tyre levers and a halfway decent adjustable spanner but there's absolutely no sign at all of your puncture repair kit.

Looks like I'm walking or getting a lift into Robinson again tomorrow, which is a complete nuisance. Wonder if I'll find time to pick up a puncture repair kit tomorrow then, or when I'll have chance to use it. It's the back tyre as well which is always much more of a nuisance, but I'm not sure I want to take it to a bike shop *again* to get it fixed. And it looks like if Steph is around I won't get a chance to go on another long ride at the weekend either at this rate.

I've given up on using puncture repair kits these days; I just carry two spare inner tubes which I use instead. I've still got a puncture repair kit mind; it holds all of the tire levers, self-adhesive patches (using a rubber patch with adhesive is a real pain IMO), etc.

That said, I did recently pick up a 15mm socket and a suitable holder for it from Mackays after I had to resort to using a hammer in combination with my Gerber cycle tool to loosen off the nuts holding on my rear wheel.

As to why tires get punctures at the most inconvient moments... its because they know that it would cause the most inconvience to you :)

£1.50 for a tube replacement ? Sounds like a nice deal to me.

Personally I prefer to do the repair myself as it means that I don't have to be bikeless for a day.

Which reminds me; I should really add a set of latex gloves to the toolset I carry with me when I'm cycling. Getting oil off your hands is a right pain and even if you use what could best be described as "gritty" soap, you'll still have oil left on your hands after cleaning them off.

You know, if I'd known, I could have picked you one up at Halfords today. Exact same problem.
