There's not much to say about this one beyond how much I enjoyed reading it. Good as the film was there's just too much in the book that was done just slightly better. The dead, Faramir and Eowyn, the scene in front of the black gates, the coronation and the wedding and most importantly the scouring of the shire. It's a great book still, even if I've read it many times, and even if it's not everyone's cup of tea. I admit I've not done more than flick through the appendices, though that's usually true when reading in English too.
