Rather good party last night to celebrate Andrew's birthday. Lovely to see him smiling and happy. Drank lots of non-alcoholic Becks, which made me feels strangely full of beer bubbles, and combined with the tiredness was oddly like being drunk in some ways. Really enjoyed listening to his CD, and seeing various other people tapping feet or nodding heads along. Shame I'd got to the point I desperately needed to go home and sleep just at the point where him and Chris got out the guitars. Enjoyed the couple of tracks I did hear though. I'd have sung along too if I actually knew the words to Design for Life, but I hummed anyway :-)

Mike's lovely. No really. Despite wanting to make the most of Sue's last couple of days in the country he's done his best not to let me feel at all bad about it, and by and large done admirably.

I weigh the least I have since July. Sounds like a huge achievement when put like that, but it's mostly been tiny dribs and drabs lately. Still, better than nothing. My current target is the weight I was in around May, which is 8lbs away and will probably take quite a long time to reach.

Rjk looks cute with short hair. Now grade 3 all over, and it took rather less time and effort than last time I cut it. He can clean up the kitchen this time though ;-)

Feeling enough over the kitchen incompetance to maybe consider another batch of toffee. In a more sensible container this time! No other plans for today really, other than relax. Well OK, and the washing up at some point. But we do our best to ignore that.

Up moderately early for a Sunday. Cut rjk's hair before lunch, spend most of the afternoon reading the next in the Chalet School. Mike came round for a cuppa, and ended up with coffee-tea since he answered "yes" when asked which he preferred. It turned out this wasn't in fact what he preferred at all, and in the end I drank it. Then Mike and I spent the tail end of the afternoon making more toffee. This is an entertaining experience which involves consuming far too much half-cooked sugar in the meantime. It was ready to pour out to set at just the same time dinner was. After dinner all three of us pottered over to the Carlton to see Sue off. A very entertainingly silly evening, of which I hope we will soon be seeing lots of low-res photos from Simon's phone. It's been nice to have her around for a couple of weeks, and sad to say goodbye again so soon. But hey, there's always LJ and irc. Home now because we're tired, will try and get an early night. Looking forward to dinner out tomorrow.
