This week I gained 1lb

Dunno where it came from, because I've stuck to the plan 100% this week. there might be a small star week effect, since it would be the right week, but that doesn't usually affect me much. Could just be because of the big losses at the beginning of August, but then I'd put on a bit before then, so it wasn't as big as it looked in real terms. All I can do is carry on and try hard again this week and hopefully have a bigger loss to make up for it. But it's not very heartening at the moment.

Over the past 9 months of dieting I've lost 3st 4lb, which amounts to 22% of my starting weight - my current weight is 11st 12lb

My average loss a week is 1¼lb

My target weight is 11st. I am currently 0st 12lb away from this.

My current BMI is 26.68; my target BMI is 24.75.

Look at the pattern in the 4 months' weight loss chart. I noticed very much the same effect in mine - the weight loss seemed to go in bounces. I'd lose a lot, then a bit, then put on a bit, then lose a lot again. Looks like you're about due another upward bounce to me, I wouldn't sweat it :)

Also it looks from the 9 months' loss chart that the rate at which you're losing may be starting to slow up a little now you're getting close to target, which is probably to be expected.

I take the attitude that my metabolism, which knows what my body needs, and my subconscious, which is quite capableof strongly influencing my actions, are fairly tightly wired together. Basically thatmeans that as long as I can quell the urge to comfort eat (which is learned rather than instinctive) and so on, then I'm pretty much well advised to listen to what my body's telling me because otherwise I'm going to be monkeying with things that aren't broken. So really I think that having the odd 'break' week is not only pretty much inevitable since your conscious mind is probably not completely in control of your eating pattern in some ways, but also a good thing since it lets me readjust and stops my metabolism thinking it's starving to death, which won't help with losing weight at all..

(I don't know where I get this laid-back attitude to persuading all the different bits of my personality to work together, but it seems to reflect quite a bit on a lot of the things I do :)

*hugs*

I know that its disappointing when you gain even when you've stuck completely to the plan. However I've found that my body goes in cycles of gain and loss with a
downward trend. Your 4 month weight change graph just about shows this infact.

From what you've said you're still go down in clothes sizes, so you're making progress.

On another note, its nice to see that the amazing kludge I wrote is working for you as well :)
