OK Cupid

Despite only being in beta this (http://devel.okcupid.com/) is rather fun. OK so I'm not seriously looking for more partners at the moment, but it's always nice to have a new way to find and meet people, and I've seen quite a few familiar faces there too: looks like a fair bit of their population is from LJ users. Having a couple of conversations with nice people anyway, in Atlanta, Somerville Mass, Glasgow and Denmark. I'll be interested to see how the site develops anyway. Perhaps my choice of userpic has something to do with how many people are talking to me. Is it cheating to pick them on that basis?

I wouldn't say it's cheating, as such. I think most people are inclined to think that sort of photo isn't necessarily real anyway. In my case it was the music thing that caught my eye :)

Actually it's true: you asked about the music, someone else asked me to explain what's so great about the Princess Bride, and someone encouraged me not to worry about weight since not everyone likes their women skinny, so it was an interesting mix. Oh and one who did say they liked the photo, but talked about the film Secretary too.

I'm not saying the photo isn't good, though - it's hot.

But, y'know, people sometimes deserve more credit than most people think - not everyone's out there just for sexual kicks :)

It's a very sexy userpic. Err, I mean.... "I just love the princess bride". Actually I do. But now it sounds like a *really* bad chat up line... ;-)

I think it would be impossible not to be influenced by the person's userpic. Perhaps I should use my pie userpic and see how many responses I get. ;-)
