A good rant, a good cry, and getting most of the washing up done, has made me feel a bit better. I have things to be thankful for, good friends, a lovely house, a wonderful boyfriend. None of them are perfect, but then nothing ever is.

Anytime you want to come round mine, I'll rant while you cry, and I'm more than happy for you to do my washing up. Hey, you know, because it helps.

I think there might be something more general in it. Really, you won't know unless you try. Go on. How about ironing? That can be very therapeutic. Sewing, maybe?

Well see, now we're getting to the root of the problem.

There's always a first time. I have lots of ironing and washing up that you could do too. And I reckon that mine is much more therapeutic than [livejournal.com profile] beingjdc's.

It's probably closer too, I'm guessing.

Ironing is definitely a waste of time and a cause of backache in tall people. Not helpful in any way.

Top tip: if you are too tall then simply sit down to do the ironing. :-)

Better tip: don't do ironing.

On the perfection front, I liked this English Dept Chocolate Cake guide to grades (shamelessly nicked from [livejournal.com profile] gioiaverdi). I know she composed it for writing grades, but I think it could be a useful way for perfectionists like me to look at lots of things in life:

50% this chocolate cake is fine, it has good texture and smooth filling
60% this is a good chocolate cake - it is either particularly light, or the filling is very good
70% A very light chocolate cake with very good filling.
80% Very light, good filling, well decorated
90% This is as good as any chocolate cake I've ever tasted. Wonderful.
100% This chocolate cake was made by God, I shall never eat another as it could only disappoint. Indeed, this has satisfied all my lifelong chocolate cake cravings.
