Black or silver?

Would you believe I spent over an hour searching the web this afternoon and came up with a sum total of about 3 tellies that were black (or nearly black) instead of silver. And neither of the widescreen ones have the dimensions of the whole unit available, so I can't tell if it would fit in our living room. Have mailed people to find out anyway, we shall see. Is black really so unpopular a colour for TVs/stereos etc these days?

Yes, silver appears to be back, which is good news for all the people with old silver hi-fis. :)

Not so good if you have a living room full of black marble and a black stereo you want to match, and if your other half doesn't like silver appliances much.

Yes. I spent weeks last December and November looking for a black-cased 25" telly for Mum & Dad. The best the shops could offer was a nasty, plasticky looking grey so I bought a lovely dark silver one instead.

You can buy cans of spray-on black vinyl. With some practise, you can get a decent finish..

Own-brand stuff is usually black - Proline in Comet, Matsui in Dixons, and Goodmans in Comet, Argos and a few other places.
