Cambridge cycle commuting
Apologies for the repeat, but I messed up the poll. I'm still interested in how far people in Cambridge typically cycle to work. Not that I think this will get very statistically valid answers of course. [Poll #1414849]
Google maps, and bikely may help you plot your journey to find out how long it is, and here's a map of the boundaries
Feel free to add your commute even if you only do it once a week, rather than every day, and do comment with details if you'd like, or vote in comments if you don't have a livejournal account.
If your commute is entirely outside the city boundaries but you still consider yourself a Cambridge cyclist (perhaps you live in one of the boundary villages?) then do vote, but please comment.

I sometimes walk rather than cycling because I don't get much other exercise, and the walk at least takes a little more effort!
Back before we had the children, home was in Impington, and work was off Cherry Hinton Road, which was about a 7 mile commute (via my ex's work); back then, we didn't have a car, and commuted by bike every day. I rather miss that (and being fit enough to survive it). On the other hand, the day when there was heavy snow and it took 2 hours to get in was a bit exciting. We were rather disgruntled that my ex's boss didn't go into work because of the snow -- she lived about 200m away -- and anyone with a company car was told not to come in, too. (My boss came in on cross-country skis, though :-)

But actually I almost never cycle-commute these days, I walk instead.

David Bull Way to Trinity Hall - a little over 3 miles, crossed boundaries.
King's Hedges to Trinity Hall - a little over 2.5 miles, inside city boundaries.

It's about as far as you can go in a straightish line and not leave the city, though!

NB a) you can change your vote in polls - just click on the poll link and click on "fill out poll". b) You can tell Bikely to show you miles, not just km. In fact it defaulted to miles when I clicked on the link!

I found a poll about bicycles! I shall fill it out!
