OK, so maybe it's not just a town bike. 23.5 mph, on the flat, no tailwind, 4th gear (of 5). I'm tempted to see just exactly what she can do if I really push her (and get the mudguard fixed so it stops rubbing).
Mind it did show up just how unfit I am.

I'm more and more sure that I've mis-set (or mis-measured) the cirumference of my wheels in the boke computer thing, as I cant get above 18mph no matter how hard I try. And that ain't right.

I'm hoping the nice weather stays until the weekend, in which case I'm fixing the mudguard and going out for a few hours. Maybe I'll try Ely again.

Yes legs will affect it too, but I don't see any reason why if you wanted to go out and ride for a few hours every other weekend like I was last summer you wouldn't soon be as fast as me on a similar bike. And equally I don't see any reason why you'd *want* to if you're not all that keen on cycling for leisure anyway.

I did cheat^W make an effort to the extent of stripping off the pannier with all the miscellaneous cycling junk in it.
