RIP: Tom Cockeram 1922-2008
He died yesterday evening, having hung on for much longer than the doctors and nurses had been expecting. My mum and grandma spent the day sitting together by his bedside, holding hands and reminiscing. Obviously we're all very sad, but he had a long and good life, and at least he's not in pain any more, and really we'd been expecting it since the weekend, which I think helps. And we've all got lovely recent memories of him, at their wedding anniversary party in June, and my Grandma's birthday earlier this month.
We'll all miss him.

can't be too many Cockerams around here; is Alistair your cousin, perhaps?
