Reading, Watching, Listening

A more interesting meme than usual. This is what I've been doing this week:

Reading

  • R A Heinlein: Friday
  • Diana Gabaldon: The Fiery Cross (trashy fiction)
  • usenet: cam.misc, uk.misc, the Other Place mostly
  • LJ
  • Lots of spam and viruses at work
  • irc

Watching

  • Cruel Intentions
  • CSI and CSI:Miami
  • The Lyon's Den
  • Buffy Season 1: Angel and I Robot, You Jane
  • GalaxyQuest

Listening

  • Lots of stuff on random play from this collection
  • Franz Ferdinand: Franz Ferdinand (more than once)
  • Terrorvision: Good to Go
  • Fear Factory: as music to go to sleep to
  • Several tracks with Jesus in the title, on a whim
  • PJ Harvey: Rid of Me and Stories from the city, stories from the sea once)
  • Knife and Fork: live, supporting PJ Harvey
  • PJ Harvey: live at the corn exchange
  • Jeff Buckley: first few tracks from Grace
  • Pulp: We love life

Reading: LJ, IRC, Physical Review B, usenet (net, ucam.*, alt.sports.football.pro.ne-patriots), "Country of the Blind" (Chris Brookmyre), "Blissed Out" (Simon Reynolds).

Watching: Very little. Formula 1 qualifying, shortly.

Listening: lots of mp3s on random play, but particularly: Ulrich Schnauss, "A Strangely Isolated Place", Ben and Jason, "Goodbye", Wire, "A Bell Is A Cup Until It Is Struck"/"It's Beginning To And Back Again"/"Manscape", Wir, "The First Letter", Sub Pop label samplers, Sparks' "This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us", and to wake up and fall asleep to, "Involver", Sasha's new mix album.

Reading: lj, usenet, latest issue of "Computing" magazine, the Graun, and hopefully later this week the new Jonathan Coe.

Watching: not a great deal, though I did see a rather good cop show on Channel 4 on Thursday night, can't remember the name though

Listening: Gram Parsons, Montrose, Hawkwind, Jethro Tull, the Archers, TMS
ext_3375: Banded Tussock (Default)

Reading? 'The Neutronium Alchemist' (again), New Scientist, The Financial Times Weekend. Will probably read the Grauniad if I take a train into London (still not too late to hit Borders!). John Hull, 'Options, Futures and other Derivatives'. Must re-read Friday although the sense of being 'other' or an outsider is one that I am keen not to cultivate.

Watching: no telly, I get bored very quickly with the mood I'm in. I'll probably Load up the DVD edition of LOTR again.

Listening:

  • Creedence Clearwater Revival: Cosmo's Factory
  • Sheryl Crow: Sheryl Crow
  • U2: The Joshua Tree
