Even lazier Sunday

So today I got up late, had lunch after rjk went out, and spent most of the rest of the day spodding. Mobbsy mentioning the word "tidying" on irc did at least spur me on to put some washing on, empty my glasto rucksack properly, and put the (now dry) tent away. Brushing the mud off rjk's jeans was spectacularly impressive. As is my alpine strawberry plant, must pick the new crop tomorrow, they look great. Having cats next door seems to discourage the birds from eating them too. Pleasant curry-from-a-jar for dinner, which unfortunately had the soapy taste which rjk dislikes in curry. Must read the ingredients list before throwing the jar out, and see if it gives any hints. After that watched last night's crime telly. Videod from terrestrial still because we haven't yet got the video linked up to the digibox. It's all so complicated.

If it's the same soapy taste I dislike, it's cardamom.

I've taken to the faff of throwing cardamom pods into mortal and pestle, bashing them about abit, separating the seeds from their battered pods and then grinding the seeds down before adding them. Its a little bit of a faff, but its probably worth it.

I've always done that - how's that wonderful flavour going to suffuse the entire dish properly if you leave it in hard little bullets?
Only takes a couple of minutes, tops.
