I am mindful of the benefits of owning a house in the economic world we currently live in, for sure, but also it's well annoying sometimes having to be responsible for such a large yet curiously fragile asset. (The upstairs toilet is separate but next door to the bathroom in my house, with one wall against the back of the shower, and it took me a while to notice, but this has clearly been cut open in the past for some sort of surgery on the shower itself, because the plaster has a really different finish there, and the toilet room has clearly been repainted by an amateur. the shower control itself still does leak when in use, but in some complex way that means it comes out of the middle of the control and thereby into the shower, so I don't ever want to mess with that if I don't have to.)
