Ian suspects they're trying to verify the forwarding address, and that they've reduced the timeouts too much on that. I've mailed them and asked anyway, and they've kindly upped the timeout to 30 seconds! So generous. Apparently it's been configured that way for the last 8 months, which makes it a little embarrassing to only just notice, although I suppose it's possible the conversation wasn't taking so long in the past.
