To all those who have sent birthday wishes by whatever means, and especially to nja for the jaffa cake, ewx for the promised spending spree in Fopp, Emily for the le Creuset Cocotte, mhk and Bernie for the lovely evening scarf, my grandma and grandad for the cheque, my mum and dad for the bathroom and the mysterious benefactor for the Diana Wynne Jones Fire and Hemlock.

So far today I have shared chocolates in the office with various people, especially including Pete whose birthday it is also, and had a lovely lunch in the Bun Shop with Mike. Their chips just come in too large a portion though. Plans for this afternoon involve a nap and baking a cake.
